Electronic structure theory investigation on the electrochemical properties of cyclohexanone derivatives as organic carbonyl-based cathode material for lithium-ion batteries

ThankGod C. Egemonye et al.

Summary: Organic carbonyl-based compounds have gained attention as organic cathode materials in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their high cyclability, low cost, and tunable chemical structure. However, their utilization is limited by poor charge capacity and dissolution in electrolytes. In this study, cyclohexanone derivatives were theoretically investigated, and it was found that compound H-2 and H-3 exhibited promising electrochemical properties, making them suitable as organic cathode materials for LIBs.

Direct chemical vapor deposition growth of graphene on Ni particles using solid carbon sources

Feng Zheng et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized uniform graphene@Ni composite particles by in-situ growing graphene reinforcements on Ni particles for powder metallurgy, using polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) as the solid sources for chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process. Few-layer or multilayer graphene with different morphologies can be grown on the particles by controlling the PMMA content and annealed temperature, respectively, leading to the formation of graphene with different microstructures and morphologies due to a competition mechanism from the growth kinetic and the spatial confinement effect.

Investigation of Capacity Increase in Schiff-Base Networks as the Organic Anode for Lithium-Ion Batteries

Zhi Zhang et al.

Summary: Schiff-base polymers are synthesized using melamine as raw material through the solvothermal method and tested as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. The capacity of the battery increases at different degrees after cycling at different current densities, due to the realization of superlithiation with the benzene ring as the lithium storage center in the polymer. The study on the interaction between material structure and electrochemical performance explores the lithium storage mechanism of the triazine Schiff-base polymer, providing guidance for the development of high-performance organic cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries.
