Bifunctional carbon-based cathode catalysts for zinc-air battery: A review

Huimin Liu et al.

Summary: Efficient bifunctional OER/ORR catalysts are crucial for the further development of zinc-air battery. Carbon-based materials, with good conductivity, low cost, and strong durability, are considered as promising alternatives for commercial zinc-air battery catalysts. Recent progress in the development of carbon-based bifunctional catalysts by defect engineering, heteroatom doping, and metal doping is summarized. However, the future development of carbon-based bifunctional oxygen catalysts still faces challenges.

Revisiting the anodic stability of nickel-cobalt hydroxide/carbon composite electrodes for rechargeable Ni-Zn battery

Qihang Liu et al.

Summary: Aqueous rechargeable Ni-Zn batteries have been developed as a safe and reliable energy storage system. However, the low electronic conductivity of Ni-based cathodes has hindered their practical application. This study proposes a composite approach with highly conductive carbon substrates to improve the electronic conductivity. A physical surface treatment method using ethanol wetting is introduced as an alternative to chemical oxidation treatment. The resulting Ni-Zn battery exhibits high discharge capacity and stability, providing a promising solution for the practical application of Ni-Zn batteries.

Recent advances in the recovery of germanium during the zinc refining process

Xilin Geng et al.

Summary: Germanium, with its excellent electrical and optical properties, plays a crucial role in various high-tech fields. However, the recovery efficiency of germanium is low, accompanied by high energy consumption and impurities. Therefore, there is an urgent need for efficient and low-consumption green processes to utilize germanium in zinc concentrate. This paper provides a systematic overview of the basic properties, key technologies, and recent advances in leaching and separation of germanium, focusing on the study of germanium species and coordination reactions.

Plasma Hsp90 levels in patients with systemic sclerosis and relation to lung and skin involvement: a cross-sectional and longitudinal study

Hana Storkanova et al.

Summary: According to the study, plasma levels of Hsp90 are increased in patients with systemic sclerosis compared to healthy controls, and are associated with increased inflammatory activity, worsened lung function, and extent of skin involvement in patients with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis. In patients with systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease treated with cyclophosphamide, baseline Hsp90 levels can predict changes in DLCO over 12 months of therapy.
