Exciplex-Forming Systems of Physically Mixed and Covalently Bonded Benzoyl-1H-1,2,3-Triazole and Carbazole Moieties for Solution-Processed White OLEDs

Mariia Stanitska et al.

Summary: Newly designed exciplex-forming acceptors were used to synthesize carbazole and benzoyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole derivatives with efficient thermally activated delayed fluorescence. The ortho-substituted carbazole-benzoyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole exhibited the most efficient fluorescence, making it suitable for white light-emitting diodes. The device achieved high power efficiency, current efficiency, and brightness, with close to nature white color coordinates and a high color rendering index of 92.

All-organic fast intersystem crossing assisted exciplexes exhibiting sub-microsecond thermally activated delayed fluorescence

Kaspars Traskovskis et al.

Summary: A novel strategy for acquiring exciplex systems exhibiting thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) with high reverse intersystem crossing rate was presented. By constructing exciplex donor-acceptor molecular pairs, optimal reverse intersystem crossing pathways were achieved for TADF with sub-microsecond emission lifetime. However, an unusual thermal photoluminescence quenching effect was observed due to limited triplet state stability under room temperature conditions.

Impact of molecular and packing structure on the charge-transport properties of hetero[8]circulenes

Nataliya N. Karaush-Karmazin et al.

Summary: Hetero[8]circulenes have shown potential as charge transport materials in field-effect devices. A detailed computational study of sixteen crystals revealed design principles for organic semiconductors based on the relationships between crystal packing and charge transport properties. Variations in molecular structure, such as O/NH substitution and benzoannelation, were found to impact reorganization energy and electronic coupling, affecting charge transfer properties. Moreover, the stacking organization of molecules in the crystal significantly influences the charge transport within the pi-pi stacks.
