Interactions of Rarefaction Waves and Rarefaction Shocks of the Two-Dimensional Compressible Euler Equations with General Equation of State

Geng Lai

Summary: This paper investigates the interactions between two types of waves arising from the expansion of a wedge of gas to vacuum, including the interactions of rarefaction waves and the interactions of shock-rarefaction composite waves. Using the method of characteristics, the global solutions to these wave interactions are constructed. By constructing invariant regions of the characteristic angles, the hyperbolicity of the system in the interaction regions is obtained. The solutions constructed in this paper can be used as building blocks for solving 2D Riemann problems of the Euler equations with general equations of state.

On the stability of the improved Aw-Rascle-Zhang model with Chaplygin pressure

Summary: This paper investigates the stability of the Riemann problem for the improved Aw-Rascle-Zhang model, which describes the formation and dynamics of traffic jams. By constructing classical Riemann solutions and analyzing wave interactions, the existence and uniqueness of delta-shock wave in this model are proven, leading to stability analysis of the Riemann problem.
