Curing behavior of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose/epoxy/MWCNT nanocomposites

Jin Zhang et al.

Summary: The surfactant-assisted preparation of carbon nanotube (CNT)/polymer composites has attracted attention worldwide. In this study, CNT/epoxy nanocomposites were prepared using sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and the effect of CMC on the curing behaviors of epoxy resin (E44) and CNTs/E44 was investigated. The curing kinetics of the CMC/CNTs/E44 systems were examined using methods where the activation energy (E) is a constant and where E is a variable, respectively. The dynamic mechanical properties of the composites were also compared. It was found that CMC/E44 had a higher storage modulus (E-m) while the CMC/CNTs/E44 system had a higher glass transition temperature (T-g) and damping factor (tan delta).

Mechanical, thermal and gas sensing properties of flexible multi-walled carbon nanotubes/waterborne polyurethane composite film

Zhaofeng Wu et al.

Summary: The uniform dispersion of multi-wall carbon nanotubes in waterborne polyurethane matrix was achieved through in-situ polymerization and latex particles assisted dispersion, enhancing the mechanical and gas sensing properties of the composite material. The response of the flexible MWNT/WPU to O3 was 4.1 times that of pure MWNTs, with a detection limit reaching 38.4 ppb, while also exhibiting high bending stability and long-term stability.

Investigation into surface acoustic wave sensor for DCM gas detection using COMSOL multiphysics

Mohamed Moustafa et al.

Summary: In this study, SAW gas sensors for detecting DCM volatile organic gases were simulated and discussed. The resonance frequency varied among different piezoelectric substrates, and the thickness of the PIB sensing layer had a significant impact on sensor response, with ZnO showing the least dependence. The device was also simulated with DCM gas concentration, showing a linear frequency shift proportional to the concentration.

Simulation of gas sensing mechanism of porous metal oxide semiconductor sensor based on finite element analysis

Songlin Li et al.

Summary: The finite element analysis is increasingly used to simulate the mechanism of metal oxide semiconductor resistive gas sensors. The dynamic model of oxygen ions is creatively used as a bridge between gas concentration and sensor response, showing good agreement with the real sensor. The proposed method is expected to predict the sensor signal and assist in sensor design based on the underlying transfer logic of the sensor signal.
