Silver mirror for enhancing the magnetic plasmon resonance and sensing performance in plasmonic metasurface

Jing Chen et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel method for enhancing the magnetic plasmon resonances (MPRs) and sensing performance of a metasurface consisting of a 1D silver nanogroove array by using an opaque silver mirror. The silver mirror blocks the transmission channel of light, reducing the radiative damping of MPRs and consequently decreasing the linewidth of MPRs. The metasurface exhibits high sensitivity and figure of merit, making it highly potential for label-free biomedical sensing.

Ultra-broadband and completely modulated absorption enhancement of monolayer graphene in a near-infrared region

Zhendong Yan et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates the achievement of ultra-broadband and completely modulated absorption enhancement of monolayer graphene in the near-infrared region. By designing multiple magnetic plasmon resonance modes in metamaterials and adjusting the bias voltage on graphene, the absorption efficiency of monolayer graphene is significantly improved, making it promising for applications in optoelectronic devices.

Ultraviolet graphene ultranarrow absorption engineered by lattice plasmon resonance

Zhendong Yan et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates an ultraviolet graphene ultranarrow absorption in a hybrid graphene-metal structure, with a full-width at half maximum of 9 nm. By controlling geometrical parameters and materials, the position, absorbance, and linewidth of the hybridized narrow resonant mode can be systematically tuned, showing high refractive index sensitivity and figure of merit, and promising applications in ultra-compact efficient biosensors.

Pronounced Linewidth Narrowing of Vertical Metallic Split-Ring Resonators via Strong Coupling with Metal Surface

Wei Du et al.

Summary: The theoretical study showed that magnetic plasmon resonances (MPRs) in a 3D metamaterial consisting of vertical Au split-ring resonators (VSRRs) array on Au substrate, coupled with propagating surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs), could generate an ultranarrow-band hybrid mode with significantly enhanced magnetic fields on the metal substrate. The proposed metamaterial exhibited high sensitivity (S = 830 nm/RIU) and figure of merit (FOM = 377), suggesting potential for label-free biomedical sensing applications.
