Probing the Relationship between Gelation and Crystallization by Using Salts of Lithocholic Acid

Puzhen Li et al.

Summary: Hydrogels derived from lithocholic acid and its salts show promise in drug delivery and cellular immobilization. By systematically varying the ammonium counterions, the resulting aggregates can be controlled to form hydrogels, mixtures of fibrils and crystals, or only crystals. The study provides insights into the molecular organization and mechanism of gelation and crystallization in this system.

Design, synthesis, and application of a new series of organogelator using crystal engineering approach and solvent parameter study: A synergetic approach

Varsha Bhardwaj et al.

Summary: A new series of organic salts based on pivalic acid and primary amine have been designed and synthesized for potential organogelation behavior, leading to the discovery of five new gelators. The study of solvent parameters revealed the influence of solvent properties on the thermal stability and gelation performance of these salts, with a strong correlation observed between multi-component solvent parameters. The gel network of one salt was used as a template for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles due to its unique characteristics.

Crystal Habit Modification of Metronidazole by Supramolecular Gels with Complementary Functionality

Sreejith Sudhakaran Jayabhavan et al.

Summary: A series of bis(urea) compounds with complementary functional groups similar to the drug metronidazole and its structural isomer have been synthesized and studied for their gelation properties. It was found that drug-mimetic gels interact with the surface of the drug crystal, resulting in new crystal morphologies, while nonmimetic gels did not show this effect.
