Mechanical properties and uniaxial compressive stress-strain behavior of fully recycled aggregate concrete

Yuxiang Tang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a fully recycled aggregate concrete (FRAC) prepared by replacing natural aggregates and partially replacing cement with recycled materials. The addition of recycled materials has a negative effect on concrete strength and shows little effect on the ascending branch of stress-strain curves but influences the descending branch. The elastic modulus decreases due to the incorporation of recycled aggregates and recycled powder.

Study on the strength characteristics and failure characteristics of the composite load-bearing structure in the cemented filling field

Bin Xu et al.

Summary: The technology of continuous mining and filling cemented coal mining (CMCB) solves the problem of unbalanced mining and filling efficiency in lane-type cemented filling. By studying the alternate bearing characteristics of the roof and the mechanical properties of the composite load-bearing structure, this research provides references for the design of the lane width, the optimization of the mining process, and the proportioning of the filling slurry.

Enhanced ductility and toughness by tailoring heterogenous microstructure in an ultra-heavy gauge high strength steel with severe centerline segregation

Z. J. Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel two-step intercritical heat treatment was used to adjust the microstructure of an ultra heavy E500 offshore engineering steel. The results showed that the mechanical properties of the steel were significantly improved after thermo-mechanical controlled processing, especially in terms of elongation and low-temperature toughness at the center location. This improvement can be attributed to a more homogeneous chemical composition distribution and the fine multiphase microstructure with stable retained austenite obtained in the segregation region.

Effect of aggregate size distribution and confining pressure on mechanical property and microstructure of cemented gangue backfill materials

Yiming Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of the fractal dimension of particle size distribution (PSD) and confining pressure on the mechanical properties of cemented gangue backfill material (CGBM). The results show that the compressive strength and elastic modulus of CGBM are related to the PSD fractal dimension and confining pressure. A reasonable PSD fractal dimension can optimize the microstructure of CGBM and ensure its load-bearing capacity.

Research on reuse of silty fine sand in backfill grouting material and optimization of backfill grouting material proportions

Jian Zhang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed a shield tunneling section in Nanjing Metro Line 7 that was formed with silty fine sand. By combining SPSS multiple regression analysis and MATLAB multi-objective planning tools, the ratio of muck grouting liquid was optimized using X-ray diffraction technology and laboratory tests. The feasibility of using silty fine sand as a substitute for backfill grouting liquid was discussed. The effects of grout performance and grouting parameters on the diffusion of the grouting liquid were studied. The results showed that silty fine sand can be used as a sand source for grouting liquid that meets construction requirements through the addition of a water-reducing agent and optimizing the ratio. The cost-optimized ratio grouting liquid has advantages in terms of strength and economic benefit, but the stability is poor.

Quan Yuan et al.

Summary: A neural network-based method was proposed to detect moisture content in sand gravel materials. The method combines 1D-CNN and attention-based Bi-GRU to extract abstract and positional information from the spectral data. Compared to other methods, this approach achieves better prediction performance on different datasets and can identify characteristic wavelength points in sand gravel.

Ali Zalnezhad et al.

Summary: Copper slag, as an industrial waste, can be used as a partial replacement of aggregate in pavement construction to improve performance and reduce environmental issues. The laboratory study showed that the use of copper slag in microsurfacing mixtures has good potential, especially at a 30% replacement level, to enhance asphalt performance.

Effects of recycled aggregate combinations and recycled powder contents on fracture behavior of fully recycled aggregate concrete

Jianzhuang Xiao et al.

Summary: This paper studied the fracture behavior of fully recycled aggregate concrete (FRAC), and found that the use of recycled coarse and fine aggregates (RCA and RFA) resulted in different fracture mechanisms. The substitution of RCA had little effect on critical crack opening displacements, while the substitution of RFA and RP increased and decreased them, respectively. The use of recycled aggregates reduced the fracture energy and toughness, while the use of recycled powder had limited impact.

Electrical resistivity method to appraise static segregation of gangue-cemented paste backfill in the pipeline

Zehua Wang et al.

Summary: The use of horizontal electrical resistivity can effectively monitor the segregation characteristics in pipes, with decreasing differences in resistivity between layers as mass concentration increases. Diametrical electrical resistivity is less sensitive to segregation and can only distinguish the stability differences in GCPBs with lower mass concentrations.
