Estimation of bond strengths and design parameters for precast concrete-UHPC shear key interface in box beam bridge

Li Xin Tan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the bond behavior of box beam bridges under different stress scenarios, finding that early age shrinkage and thermal load are more critical factors than truck load in causing bond failure at the beam-shear key interface. The cohesion value was found to be sufficient to resist applied load, but shear reinforcement is necessary to prevent early age tensile stress exceeding the bond capacity.

Alternative stabilised rammed earth materials incorporating recycled waste and industrial by-products: A study of mechanical properties, flexure and bond strength

Alexandra H. Meek et al.

Summary: Developing low-embodied energy building materials is crucial for reducing global greenhouse gas emissions, but proper understanding and testing are necessary before industry adoption. This study extends the knowledge of rammed earth materials through mechanical testing of reinforced specimens and evaluation of existing testing standards. Results showed that current procedures for concrete specimens are suitable for estimating certain mechanical properties of rammed earth materials.

High strength flowable lightweight concrete incorporating low C3A cement, silica fume, stalite and macro-polyfelin polymer fibres

Huiyuan Liu et al.

Summary: An innovative lightweight concrete with high compressive strength and high workability was developed, achieving exceptional strength and flowability through the use of special lightweight coarse aggregate and optimal mix parameters. The addition of macro-polyfelin polymer fibers significantly improved ductility, and new hydration and strength models suitable for HFLWC were developed based on test results.
