Pelletisation factors on the production of fly-ash aggregates and its performance in concrete

Kadepalli Nagendra Shivaprasad et al.

Summary: This research study examines the factors related to pelletisation in fly-ash aggregate production and their performance in concrete. Through experiments and analysis, the study identifies the key factors influencing pelletisation and determines their impact on aggregate properties. The study also compares the properties of fly-ash aggregates with sintered aggregates and natural aggregates, and evaluates the properties of concrete produced with fly-ash aggregates. The results indicate that fly-ash aggregates exhibit similar performance to natural aggregates except for water absorption.

Systematical investigation of rheological performance regarding 3D printing process for alkali-activated materials: Effect of precursor nature

Yuning Chen et al.

Summary: This research investigates the effect of precursor nature on the rheology of alkali-activated materials (AAM) and provides some understanding for the precursor selection and mixture design of 3D-printing AAM (3DPAAM). The study finds that the replacement of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) with fly ash (FA) or silica fume (SF) increases the static yield stress of AAM systems. The incorporation of FA or SF also affects the structural build-up rates in the flocculation and polycondensation stages. The appropriate dosage of 25 wt% FA or 10 wt% SF improves the 3D-printing-related rheology of 3DPAAM.

Influence of nano TiO2 on strength and durability properties of geopolymer concrete

K. V. S. Gopala Krishna Sastry et al.

Summary: The study explores the effect of nano titanium dioxide on fly ash based geopolymer concrete, showing that an increase in the percentage of nano TiO2 can improve the strength and durability properties of the concrete. The maximum strength enhancement is observed when 5% of nano-TiO2 is incorporated in the geopolymer concrete, leading to better performance against sulphate and chloride solutions.
