Elastic properties of Janus transition metal dichalcogenide nanotubes from first principles

Arpit Bhardwaj et al.

Summary: In this study, we calculate the elastic properties of Janus transition metal dichalcogenide nanotubes using first principles calculations, and find variations in the moduli values among different nanotubes, as well as anisotropy between different nanotube groups.

Strain engineering of Janus transition metal dichalcogenide nanotubes: an ab initio study

Arpit Bhardwaj et al.

Summary: This study investigates the electromechanical response of Janus transition metal dichalcogenide nanotubes using density functional theory. The bandgap and effective mass of charge carriers in semiconducting nanotubes are found to change with axial and shear strains, leading to semiconductor-metal and n-type-p-type transitions. The results suggest that mechanical deformations can be a powerful tool for tailoring the electronic properties of semiconducting Janus TMD nanotubes.
