Damage degradation model of aeolian sand concrete under freeze-thaw cycles based on macro-microscopic perspective

Jianwen Bai et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the properties and durability of aeolian sand concrete (ASC) under freeze-thaw cycling conditions. Through the analysis and evaluation of the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of ASC, a freeze-thaw damage model was established and its applicability and reliability were verified. The introduction of aeolian sand was found to enhance the frost resistance durability of concrete, while changes in the pore structure affected the performance and durability of ASC.

UV degradation of natural and synthetic microfibers causes fragmentation and release of polymer degradation products and chemical additives

Lisbet Sorensen et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the environmental impact of microfibers in the ocean depends on their degradation, influenced by intrinsic properties and external environmental parameters. Under UV exposure, PET and wool fibers showed changes in surface morphology and fragmentation into smaller particles.
