Comprehensive testing of colorectal anastomosis: results of prospective observational cohort study

Summary: This study investigated a novel comprehensive intraoperative colorectal anastomosis testing technique to detect the failure of the anastomosis construction and reduce the risk of postoperative leakage. Trimodal testing can identify anastomoses with initial technical failure and reduce the leakage rate through reinforcement or diversion. However, the incidence of anastomotic leakage remains high even in technically well-performed anastomoses.

Robotic colorectal surgery using the Senhance® robotic system: a single center experience

Summary: This study evaluated the initial experience of a single robotic center using the Senhance (R) robotic systems in colorectal surgery. The results showed that this new robotic system was safe and feasible for surgery of the colon and rectum. Further randomized controlled trials comparing different types of colorectal surgery are needed.
