Eco-friendly design of functionalized graphene oxide incorporated alginate beads for selective fluoride retention

Summary: In this study, sulfonated graphene oxide encapsulated with alginate beads showed high defluoridation capacity, especially at pH 6. The adsorption kinetics, thermodynamic parameters, and isotherms of fluoride adsorption onto SGO@Alg beads were evaluated. The developed beads have potential for pilot scale water treatment studies and have been proven effective in reducing fluoride concentration in field samples.

Fabrication of Multi-functionalized Graphene Oxide Doped Alginate Hybrid Spheres for Enhanced Fluoride Adsorption

By optimizing parameters, the removal capacity was improved, and various adsorption isotherms, kinetics, and thermodynamic parameters were investigated. Reusability test and field sample test were also conducted to evaluate the performance of the AGO@Alg hybrid spheres.

Fabrication of hydroxyapatite embedded cerium-organic frameworks for fluoride capture from water

Summary: In this study, hydroxyapatite-decorated Ce-BTC metal organic frameworks (MOFs) were successfully prepared for the capture of fluoride from water. The developed HAp-Ce-BTC MOFs showed excellent adsorption performance and stability towards fluoride, and can effectively remove fluoride from water under different conditions.

Summary: In this study, hydroxyapatite-implanted cerium-based metal organic frameworks incorporating alginate and chitosan were developed for effective fluoride remediation. The biohybrid beads showed high defluoridation capacity and adsorbed fluoride through electrostatic attraction and complexation mechanism. The experimental results were well fit with adsorption kinetics and isotherm models, suggesting the potential application of biohybrid beads in field conditions and regeneration.

This study reviews the synthesis of MOFs and their recent progress in aquatic defluoridation, classified according to the central metal ions. It provides an understanding of the effect factors for water remediation and analyzes the potential environmental application. The adsorption mechanism and evaluation of potential practical applications for fluoride removal by different MOFs are elucidated, and future research opportunities and prospects of MOF-based materials for fluoride removal are proposed.

Surface analysis and FTIR analysis provided further evidence of the involvement of ion-exchange and electrostatic interaction in the adsorption mechanism.

Field trial results show that REM based MOFs effectively reduce fluoride levels below the permissible limit.
