In vivo printing of growth factor-eluting adhesive scaffolds improves wound healing

Kristo Nuutila et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the benefits of in vivo printed adhesive scaffolds for the treatment of full-thickness wounds. The scaffold is able to adhere to curved surfaces of wet tissues and release growth factors to enhance wound healing. The introduced in vivo printing strategy is convenient and does not require expensive equipment.

Riclin-Capped Silver Nanoparticles as an Antibacterial and Anti-Inflammatory Wound Dressing

Changchang Kong et al.

Summary: In this study, an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory wound dressing based on riclin and silver nanoparticles was developed. The results showed that the dressing had sustained release of silver nanoparticles, effectively suppressed pathogen growth, and had negligible toxicity to human cells. In addition, it promoted faster and smoother wound healing while reducing the expression of inflammatory mediators.

Highly Adhesive Antibacterial Bioactive Composite Hydrogels With Controllable Flexibility and Swelling as Wound Dressing for Full-Thickness Skin Healing

Guanhua Lan et al.

Summary: A novel biocompatible polyzwitterionic hydrogel, PolySBMA, was developed for wound healing, showcasing high stretchability, low swelling, strong skin adhesiveness, and antibacterial properties. The hydrogel, cross-linked with natural polymers QCSMA and GelMA, exhibited excellent mechanical flexibility and adhesiveness to skin tissue, along with good antibacterial properties and biocompatibility, making it promising for acute wound dressings.

Immunology of Acute and Chronic Wound Healing

Kamila Raziyeva et al.

Summary: Skin wounds significantly impact the global healthcare system, with acute and chronic wounds being the two main types. The immune response is crucial for acute wound healing, but dysregulation can lead to chronic wounds characterized by persistent inflammation and delayed healing. Current research focuses on immunomodulatory therapeutic strategies to improve wound healing, targeting factors such as macrophage phenotype and inflammatory mediators.

Femke Mathot et al.

Summary: The study found that the interaction between mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and nerve graft substitutes can significantly upregulate the expression of important genes for nerve regeneration. NeuraGen (R) Nerve Guides expressed higher levels of neurotrophic, angiogenic, and extracellular matrix genes in the long term compared to Avance (R) Nerve Grafts.
