Preparation of carbon quantum dots/TiO2 composite and application for enhanced photodegradation of rhodamine B

Shijie Tong et al.

Summary: In this study, a titanium dioxide-coated carbon quantum dots (CQDs/TiO2) composite was prepared and studied as a catalyst for the photodegradation of rhodamine B (RhB) in water. The composite showed enhanced photocatalytic activity and stability under visible light. The mechanism of the photocatalytic process was found to involve various active species, including holes (h+), superoxide anion radical (.O-2(-)), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and hydroxyl radical (.OH). This work highlights the potential of CQDs/TiO2 composite for the treatment of organic pollutants.

A smartphone-integrated optical sensing platform based on Lycium ruthenicum derived carbon dots for real-time detection of Ag+

Siyuan Tang et al.

Summary: In this paper, Lycium ruthenicum is successfully converted into green emissive nitrogen doping carbon dots (N-CDs) through hydrothermal treatment. The N-CDs exhibit stable green fluorescence and high quantum yield, and can be used for the detection of Ag+ in water samples. Additionally, a sensor based on N-CDs and smartphone is developed for on-site monitoring of Ag+.

High surface area B-doped LaFeO3/Ag/Ag3PO4 as a Z-scheme photocatalyst for facilitate phenol degradation

Chang Xu et al.

Summary: A high activity B-doped LaFeO3/Ag/Ag3PO4 material was successfully designed and synthesized by silver ammonia assisted in-situ precipitation with glucose complexing. The material exhibited a large specific surface area and excellent optical properties, enabling efficient phenol degradation under visible light irradiation and achieving a relatively high mineralization rate. The photocatalytic mechanism of the material was investigated, providing a reference for further development of efficient visible light catalysts.

Accurate guided alternating atomic layer enhance internal electric field to steering photogenerated charge separation for enhance photocatalytic activity

Xiaoming Gao et al.

Summary: Bi4O5BrxI2-xCy solid solutions with simultaneous bismuth-enriched and low temperature homogeneous C doping were successfully prepared, leading to enhanced internal electric field and effective separation of photoinduced charge carriers, resulting in high efficiency degradation of organic pollutants under visible light irradiation. This study provides a valuable reference for the coordinated regulation of internal electric field through the formation of solid solutions, bismuth enrichment, and homogeneous doping.

The hierarchical layered microsphere of BiOIxBr1-x solid solution decorated with N-doped CQDs with enhanced visible light photocatalytic oxidation pollutants

Kailong Gao et al.

Summary: Hierarchical layered microspheres of BiOIxBr1-x solid solution decorated with N-CQDs were synthesized by one-step in-situ co-precipitation. The nitrogen doping on CQDs surface provided binding sites for BiOIxBr1-x, resulting in enhanced charge transfer. The photocatalytic activity of N-CQDs/BiOI0.25Br0.75 was significantly improved due to multiple light scattering and internal electric field effects.

Efficient integration of plasmonic Ag/AgCl with perovskite-type LaFeO3: Enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity for removal of harmful algae

Gongduan Fan et al.

Summary: The novel plasmonic Ag/AgCl@LaFeO3 (ALFO) photocatalyst showed enhanced photocatalytic activity in controlling harmful algal blooms (HABs) under visible light. ALFO-20% demonstrated higher light absorption capacity and lower electron-hole recombined rate compared to pure LaFeO3 and Ag/AgCl. Furthermore, ALFO-20% efficiently removed chlorophyll a from HABs, altered algae cell membrane permeability and morphology, disrupted photosynthesis and antioxidant systems, reducing secondary pollution and preventing HAB recurrence.

Photoinduced synthesis of green photocatalyst Fe3O4/BiOBr/CQDs derived from corncob biomass for carbamazepine degradation: The role of selectively more CQDs decoration and Z-scheme structure

Xiaoyun Xie et al.

Summary: A green and efficient photocatalyst Fe3O4/BiOBr/CQDs was successfully fabricated via photoinduced method for the removal of emerging pollutants, especially CBZ. The enhanced visible light absorption and photogenerated charge transfer efficiency, along with the Z-scheme structure constructed by biomass CQDs, contributes to the high photocatalytic activity of the Fe3O4/BiOBr/CQDs catalyst. This research provides a promising potential for the future application of Fe3O4/BiOBr/CQDs in water pollutant treatment.
