Wetting and Drying of Aqueous Droplets Containing Nonionic Surfactants CnEm

Nonionic surfactant droplets undergo phase separation during drying, leaving behind a thin film postulated to be a surfactant mesophase. Both nonionic and anionic surfactant solutions inhibit spreading on hydrophilic substrates due to Marangoni contraction. Mild Marangoni flows are observed even above the critical micelle concentration.

Evaporation time and vapor generation limit of a droplet on a hot surface

Summary: The study analyzed the heat flux characteristics of water droplets evaporating on a hot surface and developed a new two-dimensional solution to estimate surface heat flux. The estimated surface heat fluxes at the minimum evaporation time point were consistent for different materials, and the behavior of droplets on the hot surface differed significantly depending on whether the homogeneous bubble nucleation condition was satisfied.
