Carboxymethyl chitosan-alginate enhances bone repair effects of magnesium phosphate bone cement by activating the FAK-Wnt pathway

Ling Yu et al.

Summary: Magnesium phosphate bone cement (MPC) is an artificial bone substitute with degradable properties and biocompatibility. By functionally modifying MPC with a CMCS/SA gel network, we improved its mechanical strength and optimized the interface for bone in-growth. The 2% CMCS/SA composite showed favorable physicochemical properties and promoted osteoblast cell attachment, proliferation, and osteogenic differentiation.

A smartphone-integrated optical sensing platform based on Lycium ruthenicum derived carbon dots for real-time detection of Ag+

Siyuan Tang et al.

Summary: In this paper, Lycium ruthenicum is successfully converted into green emissive nitrogen doping carbon dots (N-CDs) through hydrothermal treatment. The N-CDs exhibit stable green fluorescence and high quantum yield, and can be used for the detection of Ag+ in water samples. Additionally, a sensor based on N-CDs and smartphone is developed for on-site monitoring of Ag+.

Carbon Dot-NaCl Crystals for White-Light Generation and Fabry-Perot Lasing

Swayam Prakash et al.

Summary: Phosphor materials with broad spectral range and an average emission lifetime have been achieved from carbon dots-NaCl crystals, with fructose as the precursor showing the most intense emission. Utilizing ripe banana peel as the precursor, white-light emission with specific CIE index has been achieved from the single source of CDs-NaCl crystals, which also function as Fabry-Perot resonators for lasing with low laser threshold value and high Q-factor. This approach offers a new method for F-P lasing and white light emission from a non-toxic green source with a quick and low-cost synthesis procedure.
