Adsorption Characteristics of Antibiotic Meropenem on Magnetic CoFe2O4@Au Nanoparticles

Thi Ngoc Mai Pham et al.

Summary: The adsorption characteristics of meropenem on a novel magnetic material synthesized by coating cobalt iron oxide (CFO) with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were investigated. The AuNPs increased the adsorption capacity of the material by having high affinity towards the thioether and amine groups in meropenem structure. The synthesized CFO@Au nanomaterials showed enhanced adsorption capacity and magnetic recoverability.

Thioglycolic acid-modified AuNPs as a colorimetric sensor for the rapid determination of the pesticide chlorpyrifos

Hongwei Zhang et al.

Summary: Here, we report the preparation of a gold nanoparticle-thioglycolic acid (TGA@AuNP) suspension for label-free colorimetric detection of the organophosphorus pesticide chlorpyrifos. This method has a low detection limit, high selectivity, and fast detection time, and can be applied to detect environmental water samples and tea.

The aggregation and charging of natural clay allophane: Critical coagulation ionic strength in the presence of multivalent counter-ions

Maolin Li et al.

Summary: Allophane, an amorphous aluminosilicate clay mineral found in young volcanic ash soils, exhibits aggregation-dispersion and charging behavior influenced by counter-ion valence. Experimental results indicate that allophane particles have low surface charge density in the presence of multivalent counter-ions, and the DLVO theory with DH approximation is applicable to explain the aggregation-dispersion process of natural clay allophane particles.

Au-covered nanographene oxide/PEG/PAMAM for surface-enhanced Raman scattering detection

Wenhao Qian et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared nanocomposites of nGO and gold nanoparticles, and confirmed their sensitive and efficient SERS detection performance towards p-phenylenediamine, flavin adenine dinucleotide, and crystal violet molecules. These nanocomposites exhibit good dispersity, especially suitable for SERS sensing applications in environmental and clinical samples.

Effect of counter ion valence and pH on the aggregation and charging of oxidized carbon nanohorn (CNHox) in aqueous solution

Kiyono Omija et al.

Summary: This study investigated the dispersion, aggregation, and charging behaviors of oxidized carbon nanohorn (CNHox) in aqueous solutions with different counter ions and pH values. The results showed that the stability and electrophoretic mobility of CNHox were influenced by electrolyte concentration and counter ion valence, and the aggregation-dispersion process followed the DLVO theory.

Synthesis and application of polycation-stabilized gold nanoparticles as a highly sensitive sensor for molecular cysteine determination

Quang Khanh Nguyen et al.

Summary: Positively charged and stable gold nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using HAuCl4 solution and NaBH4, with PDADMAC as stabilizing agent. A colorimetric method for detecting cysteine was developed based on the interaction with gold surfaces, showing high selectivity and precision in real pharmaceutical samples.
