The impact of BMI on morbidity and mortality after femoral fractures

Summary: Patients with obesity, severe obesity, and morbid obesity are more likely to sustain high energy traumatic injuries and suffer from shaft and distal end fractures. They also present with more comorbidities upon hospital admission. Furthermore, these patients are independently associated with a higher risk of developing at least one post-trauma complication compared to those with normal weight.
