Identification and verification of rhizosphere indicator microorganisms in tobacco root rot

Xiaoyuan Yao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the microbial community in the rhizosphere of tobacco plants and identified potential microbiological indicators of tobacco root rot. It was found that bacterial and fungal diversity in the rhizosphere decreased with continuous cropping years, and that healthy tobacco plants had higher diversity compared to diseased ones. Treatment with Paenibacillus polymyxa and Trichoderma harzianum increased the abundance of beneficial bacteria and fungi, suggesting a potential plant-promoting effect.

Bacterial and Fungal Microbiome Profiling in Chilhuacle Negro Chili (Capsicum annuum L.) Associated With Fruit Rot Disease

Evelia Fajardo-Rebollar et al.

Summary: This study explored the microbiome of chilhuacle negro chili fruit, finding that the seedborne fungus Alternaria alternata is activated during fruit maturation, leading to an imbalance in the microbiome that may facilitate the establishment of opportunistic pathogenic fungi during fruit decay.

Long-term impacts of organic and conventional farming on the soil microbiome in boreal arable soil

Krista Peltoniemi et al.

Summary: The comparison between organic and conventional farming systems on boreal arable soil microbiota revealed higher microbial activity and biomass in the organic system, particularly in cereal crop rotation. Organic systems exhibited greater microbial richness in autumn, potentially due to the abundance of fungi contributing to increased microbial activity and carbon sequestration. The study also indicated that farming practices typical of organic farming, such as green manure and continuous plant cover, have induced changes in the soil microbiome.
