Coexistence of Ferroelectriclike Polarization and Dirac-like Surface State in TaNiTe5

Yunlong Li et al.

Summary: By combining various experimental and computational techniques, the low-energy band structure, atomic structure, and charge polarization on the surface of a topological semimetal candidate TaNiTe5 have been studied. Dirac-like surface states and switchable ferroelectric-like polarization were observed, and the noncentrosymmetric surface relaxation was proposed as the origin of the observed ferroelectric-like state in this novel material.

Multiple Dirac nodal lines in an in-plane anisotropic semimetal TaNiTe5

Zhanyang Hao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a robust nodal-line semimetal phase in an exfoliatable in-plane anisotropic nonmagnetic semimetal TaNiTe5, revealing multiple Dirac-type nodal lines with fourfold degeneracy. The findings suggest rich physics in structurally anisotropic topological materials, calling for further functional exploitation based on them.

Three-dimensional topological semimetal phase in layered TaNiTe5 probed by quantum oscillations

Zheng Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, strong quantum oscillations with multiple periodicities were observed in TaNiTe5 single crystals, providing evidence of nontrivial Berry phase and 3D Fermi surface character. This suggests that layered TaNiTe5 is a 3D topological semimetal, offering a platform to explore exotic properties in low-dimensional topological semimetals.
