Reaction Behaviors and Mechanism of Isobutane/Propene Alkylation Catalyzed by Composite Ionic Liquid

Qiuying Li et al.

Summary: The alkylation performance of isobutane with propene catalyzed by a composite ionic liquid (CIL) was extensively studied. The optimal reaction conditions were determined, resulting in high yield of C7 isoparaffins and low propane production. The reaction mechanism and pathway of alkylation were proposed based on component distribution.

Alkylation of naphthalene with n-butene catalyzed by liquid coordination complexes and its lubricating properties

Chen Chen et al.

Summary: With the development of coal chemical industry, large amounts of naphthalene and n-butene are produced, and converting them into high value-added products through alkylation has gained particular importance and interest. In this study, liquid coordination complexes (LCCs) were used as acid catalysts for the first time in the naphthalene alkylation reaction under mild conditions, resulting in high yield of multi-butylnaphthalenes. The synthesized multi-butylnaphthalenes showed comparable physicochemical properties and tribological performances as the commercial cycloalkyl base oil.

Ester Oils Prepared from Fully Renewable Resources and Their Lubricant Base Oil Properties

Chenghong Hu et al.

Summary: The work reports the physicochemical and tribological properties of gallate ester oils prepared from renewable resources, showing their superior friction-reducing and antiwear properties compared to commercially available lubricating oil. Additionally, gallate ester oils exhibit better viscosity-temperature characteristics and thermal stability, as well as higher biodegradability than the comparison lubricating oil. The study highlights the key role of physical and/or chemical adsorption film formed by gallate ester molecules in achieving the desired friction-reducing and antiwear properties.

Efficient continuous-flow synthesis of long-chain alkylated naphthalene catalyzed by ionic liquids in a microreaction system

Tian Yang et al.

Summary: A novel efficient continuous-flow microreaction system was introduced to intensify the production of long-chain alkylated naphthalene, achieving high purity (>99%) within 60 seconds. By adjusting the reaction conditions, the content of multi-substituted alkylated naphthalene and the ratio of alpha-substituted to beta-substituted alkylated naphthalene in the product can be controlled.
