The influence of environmental factor on the coagulation enhanced ultrafiltration of algae-laden water: Role of two anionic surfactants to the separation performance

Tingting Zhu et al.

Summary: With the acceleration of urbanization and the improvement of people's living standards, more chemicals that humans rely on are entering the city and surrounding water bodies. Anionic surfactants, one of the essential products for human beings, are also one of the inducements that cause eutrophication. To solve the problem, the influence of typical anionic surfactants (SDS and LAS) on coagulation-enhanced ultrafiltration for algae-laden water treatment was investigated. The presence of these surfactants interfered with the ultrafiltration process and resulted in more organic compounds penetrating the membrane pores and blocking them.

Effects of predator movement patterns on the biofouling layer during gravity-driven membrane filtration in treating surface water

Rui Chen et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of predator movement patterns on biofouling layers in GDM filtration systems at different temperatures. The results showed that different predator species had varying impacts on the biofouling layer structure and stable flux levels based on their agility and movement behaviors. These findings are important for understanding and improving the performance of GDM systems.

Nanotechnology in Wastewater Management: A New Paradigm Towards Wastewater Treatment

Keerti Jain et al.

Summary: Clean and safe water is a fundamental human need, but the generation of wastewater has severely polluted water sources, leading to millions of deaths annually due to consumption of water contaminated by deleterious pathogens. Nanotechnology, with its promising characteristics such as high sensitivity, high adsorption capacity, and ease of functionalization, has shown remarkable feats in the field of wastewater treatment.
