Caffeine photocatalytic degradation using composites of NiO/TiO2-F and CuO/TiO2-F under UV irradiation

Claudia Castaneda et al.

Summary: The interest in removing emerging contaminants has increased in the past decade. The study focused on the synthesis, characterization, and photocatalytic evaluation of TiO2-F, CuO/TiO2-F, and NiO/TiO2-F composite materials for degrading caffeine using UV radiation. While the fluorination of titanium dioxide improved the physicochemical properties and photocatalytic performance, incomplete mineralization was observed.

Effective photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B using tin semiconductors over hydrotalcite-type materials under sunlight driven

Sonia Mancipe et al.

Summary: In this study, SnO2(5, 10, and 15 wt%)/MgAl-HT hydrotalcite-type materials were synthesized using the co-precipitation method, and their photocatalytic activity in the degradation of Rhodamine B under simulated sunlight was evaluated. The results showed that the SnO2(10%)/MgAl-HT catalyst exhibited the best degradation of Rhodamine B, reaching 75% degradation after 210 minutes under simulated solar light irradiation. The role of superoxide radicals in the degradation of Rhodamine B was confirmed in the photocatalytic process.

Role of NiO Nanoparticles in Enhancing Structure Properties of TiO2 and Its Applications in Photodegradation and Hydrogen Evolution

Mohammed A. Mannaa et al.

Summary: The optical and structural properties of pure and modified mesoporous TiO2 nanoparticles with different loadings of NiO were studied, with 10% NiO/TiO2 showing the highest photocatalytic efficiency. The creation of a p-n junction at the interface of NiO/TiO2 enhances the separation of photogenerated electron/hole pairs, improving the photodegradation activity. NiO content was identified as a key factor affecting the photodegradation of brilliant green and phenol, as well as hydrogen generation.

Role of type II heterojunction in ZnO-In2O3 nanodiscs for enhanced visible-light photocatalysis through the synergy of effective charge carrier separation and charge transport

Abinash Das et al.

Summary: The development of well-crafted ZnO-In2O3 type II heterojunction can reduce the recombination rate and boost the photon absorption ability. The optimization of heterojunction through varying the composite ratio was achieved, and the formation of heterojunction was confirmed through HRTEM analyses and XPS study. The optimally designed ZnO-In2O3 heterojunction at 1:1 composite ratio exhibits an unprecedentedly high activity for the decomposition of methylene blue.
