Efficient cesium encapsulation from contaminated water by cellulosic biomass based activated wood charcoal

Shahjalal Khandaker et al.

Summary: A cost-effective cellulosic biomass based activated wood charcoal was developed for Cs adsorption from contaminated water. The adsorption process followed Langmuir isotherm and pseudosecond-order kinetic models, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 35.46 mgg(-1). Burning the Cs adsorbed charcoal resulted in a 98% volume reduction, ensuring safe storage and disposal of radioactive waste.

Fatty acids as suitable biomarkers to assess pesticide impacts in freshwater biological scales-A review

Ana M. M. Goncalves et al.

Summary: The toxic effects of pesticides, especially in aquatic ecosystems, have been a major concern for environmental and human safety. Biomarkers, such as antioxidant enzymes and fatty acids, are crucial in assessing the impacts of pesticides on organisms. Fatty acids have been identified as potential biomarkers due to their sensitivity to alterations in organism homeostasis, particularly in freshwater communities.

Modeling of removal of an organophosphorus pesticide from aqueous solution by amagnetic metal-organic framework composite

Abdolraouf Samadi-Maybodi et al.

Summary: A magnetic iron-based metalorganic framework was synthesized and used for the removal of fenitrothion pesticide from aqueous solutions, showing great potential. The adsorption process followed Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models, and thermodynamic parameters were calculated. A fuzzy logic model was developed to predict the removal efficiency of fenitrothion with high accuracy.
