Photocatalytic degradation of xanthate in flotation plant tailings by TiO2/graphene nanocomposites

Man Jiang et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared a TiO2/graphene (TiO2/G) composite photocatalytic material via the hydrothermal method. The TiO2/G nanocomposites showed a large specific surface area, small pore size, and low electron-hole pair complexation rate, resulting in efficient degradation of pollutants. By anchoring TiO2 on graphene oxide (GO), the photoresponse range of TiO2/G was broadened and its photocatalytic efficiency was significantly improved. This work is important for the development of photocatalytic systems for the treatment of mineral processing wastewater.

Template-based textural modifications of polymeric graphitic carbon nitrides towards waste water treatment

Umair Azhar et al.

Summary: Composite materials based on graphitic carbon nitrides (g-C3N4) have excellent semiconductor properties, with recent efforts focusing on improving their photocatalytic efficiency and textural properties through methods like templating. The interaction between precursors and templates influences the final texture and shape of the materials, with soft templating being identified as a relatively simple and effective method for inducing textural changes in g-C3N4 materials. Through extensive investigations, researchers are interested in developing g-C3N4 materials with high surface area and flexible textural properties in order to enhance their optical and electronic characteristics.

Temperature-controlled-release of essential oil via reusable mesoporous composite of microcrystalline cellulose and zeolitic imidazole frameworks

Reda M. Abdelhameed et al.

Summary: Essential oils are known for their potency as anti-pathogens and anti-oxidants, but their application is limited by uncontrollable release. This study focused on designing mesoporous composites for temperature-controlled release of essential oils. The mesoporous ZIF@MCC composites were synthesized and investigated for the release of thyme and cumin oils at different temperatures, showing a slower release at lower temperatures and a slightly faster release with higher temperatures. The releasing mechanism is mainly attributed to a combination of physical diffusion and chemical processing.
