Study of Mesalazine Solubility in Ternary Mixtures of Ethanol, Propylene Glycol, and Water at Various Temperatures

Elaheh Rahimpour et al.

Summary: This study investigated the solubilization manner and thermodynamics of mesalazine in ternary solvent combinations. The trained models were able to adequately predict the solubility of mesalazine. The solubility of mesalazine was greatly influenced by the solution composition and temperatures. The dissolution process of mesalazine was found to be endothermic and entropy-driven.

Effect of solvent and temperature on the phase equilibrium behavior of hydroxylamine sulfate in water-ethanol mixed solvents: Solubility and ternary liquid-liquid equilibrium diagram with liquid-liquid equilibrium

Qinyan Wei et al.

Summary: This study investigates the thermodynamic properties of hydroxylamine sulfate (HAS) in binary mixed solvents of water-ethanol. The experimental results show that liquid-liquid phase separation occurs within a certain temperature range and the solubility of HAS is influenced by the mass fraction of water and temperature in the mixed solvent. Various models were used to correlate the experimental solubility, and the Apelblat model showed the best agreement. Ternary phase diagrams were constructed to study the phase equilibrium, and the influence of temperature on the phase zone was observed in the water-ethanol-HAS system. The nucleation process of oiling-out crystallization of HAS follows a two-step mechanism.

Iterative model-based experimental design for efficient uncertainty minimization of chemical mechanisms

Florian vom Lehn et al.

Summary: This study discusses the impact of uncertainties in chemical kinetic model parameters on model predictions, as well as the use of automatic optimization and uncertainty minimization techniques to mitigate these uncertainties. It was found that a few carefully selected measurements can effectively reduce model uncertainty, but including more experimental data can still provide additional benefits, particularly for important model parameters.

Bayesian I-optimal designs for choice experiments with mixtures

Mario Becerra et al.

Summary: Discrete choice experiments are commonly used to quantify consumer preferences, but designing choice experiments involving mixtures of ingredients has been largely neglected. The I-optimality criterion is more suitable for precise predictions in experiments with mixtures, as it focuses on estimated statistical models. In this research, Bayesian I-optimal designs are shown to outperform their Bayesian D-optimal counterparts in terms of predicted utility variance.

Crystal Growth Kinetics of an Industrial Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient: Implications of Different Representations of Supersaturation and Simultaneous Growth Mechanisms

Gustavo Lunardon Quillo et al.

Summary: The study found that the method used to calculate supersaturation significantly affects the estimated kinetic parameters. Including chemical activities in the supersaturation results in kinetic parameters with a tighter confidence interval and weaker correlation, which better explains the experimental observation that the API only grows significantly under higher antisolvent amounts. Additionally, the additive contribution of B+S and BCF best explains the supersaturation decay observed in the experiments for this API when multiple crystal growth mechanisms occur simultaneously.
