Designed preparation of nano rod shaped CeO2-MnOx catalysts with different Ce/Mn ratios and its highly efficient catalytic performance for chlorobenzene complete oxidation: New insights into structure-activity correlations

Jie Wan et al.

Summary: A series of nano rod shaped CeO2-MnOx catalysts with different Ce/Mn molar ratios were synthesized through a facile hydro-thermal method. The Ce/Mn-1/8 catalyst showed the highest catalytic activity and the least production of hazardous byproducts in the complete oxidation of chlorobenzene (CB). The outstanding performance of this catalyst can be attributed to both its unique morphology effect and the strong interaction between CeO2 and MnOx.

Ultra-active Ru supported on CeO2 nanosheets for catalytic combustion of Propane: Experimental insights into interfacial active sites

Jinyan Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the catalytic oxidation of propane using Ru supported on porous and defect-rich CeO2 nanosheets catalysts. The results show that the Ru/CeO2 catalyst using chlorine-free Ru precursor exhibits ultra-high activity. The presence of chlorine species suppresses dispersion of RuOx species and formation of Ru-O-Ce interfaces, accelerating the sintering of CeO2 and Ru-O-Ce interfaces.

Investigation into the catalytic roles of oxygen vacancies during gaseous styrene degradation process via CeO2 catalysts with four different morphologies

Ying Zhang et al.

Summary: CeO2 catalysts with different morphologies showed different thermocatalytic activities for gaseous styrene degradation. Spherical CeO2 exhibited the highest activity, which was attributed to its lattice distortion and oxygen vacancy concentration. Oxygen vacancies were identified as the main active sites, and the superior performance of spherical CeO2 was attributed to the lesser accumulation of intermediates on its surface.

Unveiling the lead resistance mechanism and interface regulation strategy of Ru-based catalyst during chlorinated VOCs oxidation

Xuelong Lv et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the effect of Pb poisoning on the activity of Ru-based catalysts during CVOCs oxidation, and finds that the high Pb resistance can be attributed to the oxygen vacancies on the supports capturing Pb ions and the formation of stable Ru-O-M bonds weakening the affinity between active sites and Pb. These findings contribute to the industrial application of Ru-based catalysts in Pb-containing scenarios.

Insight into the Role of Cerium in the Enhanced Performances during Catalytic Combustion of Acetonitrile over Core-Shell-like Cu-Ce/ZSM-5 Catalysts

Yaoyu Zhang et al.

Summary: Cerium-modified Cu/ZSM-5 catalysts effectively improved the mineralization rate and nitrogen selectivity of acetonitrile. The core-shell-like structure of Cu-Ce/ZSM-5 samples, with a Cu-Ce mixed oxide layer, exhibited enhanced reducibility and increased active oxygen species. Surface cerium species strengthened the hydrolysis reaction path of acetonitrile, generating sufficient NH species. The Cu-Ce/ZSM-5 core eliminated NO from acetonitrile overoxidation through internal selectivity catalytic reduction.

Jiajing Pei et al.

Summary: A single-atom Ru catalyst anchored on mesoporous schistose gamma-Al2O3 has been developed to enhance catalytic activity and selectivity towards 1,2-DCE degradation. The catalyst shows lower conversion temperatures and mainly produces CO2 and HCl as degradation products. Furthermore, it also exhibits excellent anti-chlorine poisoning effect and water resistance during stability tests, suggesting potential for efficient degradation of industrial pollutants.

How to achieve complete elimination of Cl-VOCs: A critical review on byproducts formation and inhibition strategies during catalytic oxidation

Fawei Lin et al.

Summary: This review examines the formation of byproducts in the catalytic oxidation of Cl-VOCs, with a focus on the potential risks posed by polychlorinated byproducts. Strategies to inhibit byproducts formation are explored, with an emphasis on the need to develop catalysts for the efficient and complete elimination of Cl-VOCs. Further research is needed to understand the migration and evolution routes of Cl species and design catalysts to achieve truly complete elimination of Cl-VOCs without secondary pollution.

Enhanced Water Resistance and Catalytic Performance of Ru/TiO2 by Regulating Bronsted Acid and Oxygen Vacancy for the Oxidative Removal of 1,2-Dichloroethane and Toluene

Xiaohui Yu et al.

Summary: This study compared the oxidation of 1,2-dichloroethane and a mixture of 1,2-dichloroethane and toluene using different catalysts. The results showed that HPW modification successfully enhanced the oxidation activity of 1,2-dichloroethane but led to excessive adsorption of toluene, inhibiting the degradation of 1,2-dichloroethane. Compared to Brionsted acid modification, catalysts with oxygen vacancies are more suitable for the oxidation of multicomponent VOCs.
