Breaking binary competitive adsorption in the domino synthesis of pyrroles from furan alcohols and nitroarenes over metal phosphide

Xiang Li et al.

Summary: An efficient domino synthesis for N-aryl pyrroles and tetrahydropyrroles from biomass-derived furan alcohols and nitrobenzenes was achieved using metal phosphides as catalysts. The metal phosphides exhibited outstanding catalytic performance, stability, and cooperative catalytic properties. This study demonstrated the effective strategy of selective activation and showed the powerful synergistic effect of hydrogenation and acid catalysis.
