Polyethylene separator supported thin-film composite forward osmosis membranes for concentrating lithium enriched brine

Nan Sun et al.

Summary: Extracting lithium from salt lake brine involves a process of separation and concentration. In this study, researchers successfully prepared a high-performance FO membrane for concentrating lithium ions. The membrane achieved the highest reported FO flux in the literature under similar test conditions.

Accelerated start-up and improved performance of wastewater microbial fuel cells in four circuit modes: Role of anodic potential

Zhenxing Ren et al.

Summary: Investigated the effect of four circuit modes on the start-up, performance, and membrane fouling of wastewater microbial fuel cells (MFCs). Found that the open-circuit constant potential mode (OC-MFC) had the shortest start-up period, highest voltage output, and least membrane fouling, providing an effective strategy to accelerate start-up and enhance performance of wastewater MFCs.

Treatment of agro-food industrial waste streams using osmotic microbial fuel cells: Performance and potential improvement measures

Wenchao Xue et al.

Summary: Osmotic microbial fuel cell (OsMFC) is an emerging wastewater treatment technology with multiple functions. This study found that OsMFC showed good performance in treating brewery wastewater and swine wastewater, but had limited effectiveness in treating sweetener process wastewater. Modifying the operational and process settings can improve the treatment performance, but it has limited effect on sweetener process wastewater. A pre-fermentation process is recommended to enhance the treatability of sweetener process wastewater.
