Multi-field driven hybrid catalysts for CO2 reduction: Progress, mechanism and perspective

Yushuai Xu et al.

Summary: Light, heat, and electricity are the main energy sources driving chemical reactions. However, there are significant challenges in terms of energy cost and production efficiency when reducing CO2. Hybrid catalysts driven by multiple physical fields have been developed to transform CO2 into valuable chemicals and achieve net reduction. This study clarifies the correlations among different tuning fields and classifies them into photo-, thermal-, or electric-dominant catalysis.

Atomic-Level Platinum Filling into Ni-Vacancies of Dual-Deficient NiO for Boosting Electrocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

Yaotian Yan et al.

Summary: A strategy is proposed to enhance the activity of NiO catalysts by filling Ni-vacancy sites. This can be achieved by using Ar plasma and oxygen vacancies. The filled Pt atoms increase crystal stability and tune the electronic structure. Experimental results show that the Pt-filled D-NiO-Pt electrode exhibits superior mass activity and long-term stability.

Low Temperature Oxidation of Benzene Over Pd/Co3O4 Catalysts in the Electric Field

Feixiang Shen et al.

Summary: The catalytic system coupled with electric field significantly reduces the oxidation temperature of benzene over Pd/Co3O4 catalysts and enhances the catalyst activity. The electric field promotes the release of lattice oxygen in Co3O4 support, strengthens the formation of PdOx on the catalyst, and ultimately influences the reaction pathways.

Xuteng Zhao et al.

Summary: Hollow nanospheres of Pd0.01Ce0.75Zr0.25O2 prepared by flame spray pyrolysis exhibit higher redox performance for methane oxidation in an electric field, with more exposed Pd active sites leading to increased turnover frequency. The strong interaction between the electric field and the Ce-Zr metastable structure is attributed to the higher content of surface hydroxyl groups on the catalyst surface.
