Self-Regulation of Spin Polarization Density Propelling the Ion Diffusion Kinetics for Flexible Potassium-Ion Batteries

Mengyao Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a V2C-VO2 nanoribbon intertwined nanosheet 3D multi-heterostructure was fabricated for highly flexible and robust anode material of PIBs. The heterostructure with rich heterojunctions and heterointerfaces provides interconnected 3D channels for rapid electron/ion transfer and diffusion, while enhancing structural durability and mechanical robustness. The V2C-VO2 multi-heterostructure self-regulates spin polarization density, improving K+ ion diffusion kinetics. The electrode based on the multi-heterostructure maintains a capacity of approximately 200 mAh g(-1) over repeated 2000 cycles at 1 A g(-1), showing great promise for flexible electronic devices.

Molybdenum chalcogenides based anode materials for alkali metal ions batteries: Beyond lithium ion batteries

Yanli Zhou et al.

Summary: Sodium and potassium ions batteries (SIBs, PIBs) have attracted wide concerns as the ideal substitutes for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) used in large-scale energy storage, thanks to their similar working principle to LIBs, rich abundance, and low cost. However, the shortage of suitable anode materials poses a key challenge in the field of Na+/K+ storage. Molybdenum chalcogenides have drawn great attention as anode materials for SIBs/PIBs due to their special electronic/crystal structures and high specific capacities. However, their volumetric fluctuation and low electrical conductivity are the main obstacles that hinder their performance.

MOF-Derived CoSe2@N-Doped Carbon Matrix Confined in Hollow Mesoporous Carbon Nanospheres as High-Performance Anodes for Potassium-Ion Batteries

Su Hyun Yang et al.

Summary: A novel vacuum-assisted strategy is proposed to form CoSe2 nanocrystals encapsulated within N-doped carbon matrices in hollow mesoporous carbon nanospheres (CoSe2@NC/HMCS). The resulting composite, CoSe2@NC/HMCS, exhibits excellent cycling stability and rate capability as an anode material for potassium-ion batteries (KIBs). The dual confinement system of N-doped carbon matrix and small-sized pores effectively prevents overgrowth of CoSe2 nanocrystals, contributing to the outstanding electrochemical performance of the composite.
