Prediction model of LNG weathering using net mass and heat transfer

Byungchan Jung et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a prediction model for LNG weathering that excludes vapor phase modeling. The model calculates net mass transfer and net heat transfer at the interface using statistical rate theory. The proposed model was verified through a long-term experiment in a large-scale tank and the results showed good agreement with measured data. The applicable range of the net expression equations was also studied.

Enhanced CO2 sequestration based on hydrate technology with pressure oscillation in porous medium using NMR

Yangmin Kuang et al.

Summary: This study used low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements to observe the in-situ formation of CO2 hydrate and evaluate its carbon sequestration efficiency. The results showed that CO2 hydrates preferentially formed in large pore spaces and a high initial water saturation is more conducive to high-quantity CO2 hydrate sequestration.

Summary: This paper proposes a system for monitoring and estimating analog instrument pointers using line scan vision. The initial pointer position is extracted using the light-spot centroid method, and data normalization is used to process the initial data. By analyzing the system's step response function, damping and natural frequency are estimated using the least-squares identification algorithm.

Experimental investigation of the exact role of large-molecule guest substances (LMGSs) in determining phase equilibria and structures of natural gas hydrates

Joonseop Lee et al.

Summary: This study investigated the complex phase behavior and structures of natural gas hydrates containing large molecule guest substances (LMGSs). Methylcyclopentane (MCP) and 2,2-dimethylbutane (neohexane, NH) were chosen as LMGSs for CH4 (90%) + C3H8 (10%) hydrates. The presence of LMGSs did not affect the equilibrium curves of the CH4 + C3H8 hydrates, with CH4 and LMGSs primarily in sH and CH4 and C3H8 encapsulated in sII. The experimental results provide insights into the role of LMGSs in natural gas hydrates.

Methane recovery and carbon dioxide storage from gas hydrates in fine marine sediments by using CH4/CO2 replacement

Tian Wang et al.

Summary: This study explored the characteristics of CH4/CO2 replacement in fine marine sediments, with pressure and temperature identified as the main controlling factors. The content of initial methane hydrate and water in reservoir was found to have a more significant effect on CO2 storage than CH4 recovery. The unique properties of fine marine sediments, including small grain size, clay swelling, and high proportion of bound water, inhibited gas exchange kinetics and CO2 diffusion in the replacement process.

Pressure oscillation controlled CH4/CO2 replacement in methane hydrates: CH4 recovery, CO2 storage, and their characteristics

Lingjie Sun et al.

Summary: A method utilizing pressure oscillation during CH4/CO2 replacement is proposed in this study, which effectively promotes the replacement process by breaking the balance of the hydrate layer and forming a CO2/CH4 mixed hydrate layer. This newly proposed method significantly enhances the recovery of CH4 and the efficiency of CO2 sequestration.

Improved methane storage capacity of methane hydrate promoted by vesicles from carboxylate surfactants and quaternary ammonium

Xuejian Liu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that vesicle solutions formed by combining carboxylate surfactants with cationic quaternary ammonium salt can significantly enhance the maximum storage capacity of methane hydrate. The large hydrophobic space of the vesicles enables the solubilization of methane molecules and facilitates their interaction with water molecules, leading to increased methane storage capacity.
