Summary: An unexpected discovery of CO2-induced dissolution of ZnO into ionic liquids has been made, which can be utilized as an efficient Zn-based catalytic system for the CO2-promoted hydration of propargylic alcohols. The dissolved mixture exhibits high dissolution speed and can be recycled for multiple cycles, yielding excellent results. This system also has the ability to utilize waste pigments as the ZnO source and can function even under flue gas atmosphere.

Summary: The design and facile preparation of ionic liquids (ILs)-functionalized polymer materials have great potential applications. In this study, porous organic framework (POF) materials pending carboxylic acids and imidazolium-based ILs (CILs-POFm) were successfully synthesized via the reaction of hydroxyl group-functionalized ILs with a styrene maleic anhydride copolymer. The properties of CILs-POFm materials could be easily adjusted by changing the molar ratio of different functionalized ILs. The resulting materials showed abundant mesoporous structures and high CO2 adsorption capacity, and exhibited satisfactory catalytic activity for the coupling reaction of epoxides with CO2.

Bifunctional poly(ionic liquid) catalyst with dual-active-center for CO2 conversion: Synergistic effect of triazine and imidazolium motifs

Imidazolium- and triazine-based ionic polymers as recyclable catalysts for efficient fixation of CO2 into cyclic carbonates
