Influence of the alkyl side chain length on the room-temperature phosphorescence of organic copolymers

Qingyang Xu et al.

Summary: Pure organic room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials have been achieved by copolymerizing iminostilbene and its analogues with acrylamide. The study shows that the growth of alkane chain in monomers enhances the lifetime and photoluminescence quantum yield of RTP emission, and polymers with larger conjugated structures exhibit longer RTP emission wavelengths.

Summary: Metal-free organic environmental afterglow materials, compared with fluorescent materials, have potential in new applications due to their larger Stokes shifts, longer lifetimes, higher S/N ratios, and sensitivities. The challenge lies in achieving air stability and long lifetime organic afterglow systems with tunable emission color. However, through copolymerization of two compounds, luminescent copolymers with tunable afterglow emission and the ability to be used as safety ink for paper have been successfully designed and synthesized.

Guowei Xiao et al.

Summary: This study reports an excitation-dependent persistent luminescence in a reverse mode for smart optical materials through tailoring the excited-state proton transfer process. The approach enables highly tuned phosphorescence and delayed fluorescence emission colors, which can be adjusted from green to blue or cyan to yellow-green. Additionally, the construction of optical waveguides with triple color conversion on the single crystal level provides a new strategy for multi-dimensional information encryption and optical logic gate applications.

Carbon Dots in Hydroxy Fluorides: Achieving Multicolor Long-Wavelength Room-Temperature Phosphorescence and Excellent Stability via Crystal Confinement

Ping Liang et al.

Summary: A novel and universal strategy, called CDs-in-YOHF, is proposed to generate multicolor and long-wavelength RTP by confining various CDs in the YOHF matrix. The mechanism of the triplet emission of CDs is related to the space confinement, the formation of hydrogen bonds and C-F bonds, and the electron-withdrawing fluorine atoms. The resulting CDs@YOHF exhibits excellent photostability, thermostability, chemical stability, and temporal stability.
