Two fluorescent probes (QM-S and QM-Se) with AIE properties were developed to reveal the increased intracellular hypobromous acid (HOBr) in cardiomyocytes during myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI). It was observed that MIRI could be alleviated by combating oxidative stress, as well as inhibiting inflammation and ferroptosis, which mediate oxidative stress.
