Pyridinic N and carbon defects synergistically promote methane dry reforming to syngas catalyzed by Co/N-CNTs

Zhengcai Jiang et al.

Summary: Hydrothermal synthesis of carbon nanotubes supported by low nitrogen content Co catalysts was used for methane reforming by CO2. The physicochemical properties of Co/N-CNTs catalysts were characterized by various techniques. The optimal hydrothermal condition resulted in the highest total nitrogen content and pyridinic nitrogen content. This catalyst showed high conversion rates of CH4 and CO2 due to the strengthening of the interaction between Co oxide and CNTs, enhanced carbon defect concentration and CO2 adsorption capacity, and the activation of methane encouraged by carbon defects and pyridinic nitrogen.

Selective production of γ-valerolactone or 1,4-pentanediol from levulinic acid/esters over Co-based catalyst: Importance of the synergy of hydrogenation sites and acidic sites

Yuewen Shao et al.

Summary: The Co-Mg-Al and Co-Al catalysts showed excellent selectivity and catalytic activity in the production of GVL and 1,4-PDO from ethyl levulinate. The synergy between acidic sites and hydrogenation sites was key to achieving outstanding catalytic performance.
