Revealing scenarios of interzeolite conversion from FAU to AEI through the variation of starting materials

Zhendong Liu et al.

Summary: Interzeolite conversion provides a new way to study zeolite synthesis, with experiments revealing conversion patterns from FAU to AEI and confirming the importance of altering the initial FAU structure in determining synthesis outcomes. Dealumination proves effective in modifying the FAU structure, facilitating successful conversion to the target AEI zeolite. Insights obtained from interzeolite conversion can also aid in the successful synthesis of zeolites from dealuminated amorphous aluminosilicate precursors.

Regulation of Al distributions and Cu2+ locations in SSZ-13 zeolites for NH3-SCR of NO by different alkali metal cations

Wenting Lv et al.

Summary: Different types of alkali metal cations were used to synthesize SSZ-13, and the Al distribution and Cu2+ locations in the framework were investigated using various techniques. It was found that with decreasing cation radii, the number of AlO4- tetrahedra and isolated Cu2+ species in SSZ-13 increased, leading to enhanced NH3-SCR catalytic performance.

Interzeolite Conversion and the Role of Aluminum: Toward Generic Principles of Acid Site Genesis and Distributions in ZSM-5 and SSZ-13

Julien Devos et al.

Summary: The performance of zeolite catalysts relies on the strength and distribution of Bronsted acid sites. By studying synthesis factors and mechanisms, as well as using divalent cation capacity measurements to investigate the distribution and evolution of acid sites, control over zeolite acidity and ion-exchange properties can be achieved. Aluminum plays a key role in interzeolite conversion (IZC) syntheses, with proposed principles to differentiate between Al-loving and Al-averse systems for tailoring catalytic activity.

Summary: The zeolites with an MFI-type framework topology containing both Al and Fe atoms were prepared via a two-step mechanochemically assisted method. Compared to zeolites prepared via the conventional one-pot hydrothermal process using homogeneous reagents, the thus-prepared [Al, Fe]-MFI zeolites exhibited a longer catalyst lifetime in the catalytic conversion of dimethyl ether into light olefins due to better homogeneity of Fe atoms in the zeolite catalyst achieved by the mechanochemically assisted method.
