Investigation of viscosity and structure of CaO-SiO2-MgO-Al2O3-BaO-B2O3 slag melt

Wenguo Liu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the viscosity of slag decreased while the polymerisation degree increased with the addition of B2O3. The addition of B2O3 changed the Si-related structure units and had varying effects on Al-related units. The decrease in strength and stability of the overall network structure had a more significant impact on the slag viscosity due to the presence of B2O3.

Viscosity and structure evolution of bearing-BaO slag melt with the low CaO/SiO2 mass ratio of 0.7

Wenguo Liu et al.

Summary: The presence of BaO leads to a gradual decrease in the viscosity of experimental slag, primarily through the effect of free oxygen rather than Ba2+. Structural analysis reveals that an increase in BaO content results in alterations in the structural units of the slag.

Preparation and characterization of glass-ceramics with granite tailings and titanium-bearing blast furnace slags

Yunlong Luo et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized diopside-based glass-ceramics by using granite tailings and titanium-bearing blast furnace slags as raw materials. The introduction of granite tailings was found to deteriorate the melting quality of glass and decrease the crystallization tendency, leading to a decrease in the number of microcrystals in glass-ceramics and an increase in the glass phase. Furthermore, an increase in the content of granite tailings resulted in a decrease in the volume density and microhardness of glass-ceramics.

Investigation on the crystallization properties of BaO-bearing blast furnace slag through a confocal laser scanning microscope

Wenguo Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of BaO content on the crystallization behavior of BaO-bearing blast furnace slag. The results showed that with increasing BaO concentration, the crystallization ability of the slag was weakened. The crystals exhibited one-dimensional growth at low temperature. The main crystalline phases were Akermanite and Gehlenite, and their precipitation was influenced by the BaO content.

Viscosity and structure evolution of CaO-SiO2-MgO-Al2O3-BaO slag with the CaO/SiO2 mass ratio of 0.9

Wenguo Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of BaO on the viscosity and structure evolution of CaO-SiO2-MgO-Al2O3-BaO slag. It was found that the addition of BaO could promote the transformation of structural units within the slag, but higher BaO content led to an increased polymerization degree. The results were supported by structural analysis techniques such as FTIR, Raman spectra, and 27Al MAS-NMR.
