Revealing performance of 78Li2S-22P2S5 glass ceramic based solid-state batteries at different operating temperatures

Chaochao Wei et al.

Summary: We investigated the role and potential of 78Li2S-22P2S5 solid electrolytes in a wide temperature range and found that they have high lithium-ion conductivity and wide electrochemical windows, making them attractive for solid-state batteries. However, their full understanding and potential in a wide temperature range are still unclear. Therefore, we constructed solid-state batteries with 78Li2S-22P2S5 glass-ceramics as the electrolyte and NCM622 as the positive electrode to study the differences in battery performance and mechanisms over a wide temperature range. This study provides insights into the advantages and challenges of 78Li2S-22P2S5 in a wide temperature range, and serves as a basis for the development of solid-state batteries with high energy density and long cycle life.
