Lanthanide-doped nanocrystals in high-Q microtoroids for stable on-chip white-light lasers

Limin Jin et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the chip-integrated stable white-light laser by combining CaF2:Yb35Tm1.5Er0.5 nanocrystals and high-Q microtoroids. The optimization of size, density, and distribution of LnLn(3+)-doped nanocrystals greatly enhances the upconversion emissions and reduces the laser thresholds, achieving a high-performance white-light microlaser.

Transparent MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramics prepared with ZrO2 and SnO2 as nucleating agents

Jianghai Huang et al.

Summary: Transparent spinel glass-ceramics were prepared by selecting tin dioxide and zirconia as nucleating agents and adjusting the crystallization temperature. The effect of crystallization temperature on the properties of the glass-ceramics was investigated. The results showed that the crystallization temperature affected the crystallization properties, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the glass-ceramics. In the optimal preparation condition, the glass-ceramics exhibited excellent transparency and mechanical properties.

Raman spectroscopic study of irregular network in the process of glass conversion to CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramics

YuXuan Zhang et al.

Summary: The addition of nucleating agents or nucleating treatments decreases the polymerization degree of the glass network, leading to depolymerization and phase separation at high temperatures. Raman spectroscopy also reveals the transformation of amorphous structures into crystalline structures during the conversion from glass to glass ceramics.
