On the catalytic effect of zirconia on flash sintering of alumina

Landen Cross et al.

Summary: Flash sintering of alumina is more difficult than that of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ). However, mixed powders of bi-phasic ceramics can be flash sintered under lower conditions. This study found that flash initiates in the YSZ layer and then spreads through the alumina layer after a brief incubation period.

Ag mesh network framework based nano composite for transparent conductive functional electrodes for capacitive touch sensor and thin film heater

Vivekanandan Raman et al.

Summary: The development of a highly conductive, transparent, and flexible Ag mesh-like network covered by an ITO/PEDOT:PSS nanocomposite for flexible conductive electronics is reported. The electrode, deposited via solution-based deposition, achieved a lower Rs value through low-temperature plasma annealing. This low-cost electrode substantially decreased sheet resistance and provided high transmittance, while maintaining material crystallinity and preventing deformation and degradation of other components. Various tests and studies demonstrated the excellent chemical and mechanical stability of the product. Finally, the electrode was used to create transparent flexible electrical heater and capacitive touch screen panel for potential applications.

3D-Printed Polymer-Infiltrated Ceramic Network with Biocompatible Adhesive to Potentiate Dental Implant Applications

L'udmila Hodasova et al.

Summary: The study focused on preparing and characterizing a polymer-ceramic composite material for dental applications with properties of biocompatibility and resistance to fracture and wear. Results showed that the polymer infiltrated among the ceramic filaments acted as a safety damper, preventing crack propagation and ensuring material flexibility. The combination of fast robocasting of ceramic paste and covalent bonding of polymer adhesive demonstrated potential for future dental implant applications.
