Performance enhancement of a solar still using magnetic powder as an energy storage medium-exergy and environmental analysis

Ramasamy Dhivagar et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the impact of magnetic powders on modified solar still (MPSS) performance and found that the use of magnetic powders improves the thermal performance and water productivity of MPSS compared to conventional solar still (CSS). The use of black iron oxide magnetic powder as a thermal storage material and absorber medium helps to increase solar radiation absorption and enhance performance during peak solar irradiation hours. The results also show improved energy and exergy efficiencies and CO2 reduction in MPSS.

Fabrication of kapok fibers and natural rubber composites for pressure sensor applications

Bin Tang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the fabrication of pressure sensors from biomass kapok fibers and natural rubber, utilizing two different strategies to introduce conductive elements. The composites show logarithmic response to loading and are used in a weight scale for weight measurement within a certain range. The strategy based on conductive polymer enables the composite to act as a potential pressure-sensing material and pressure-responsive circuit switch.
