Regional mapping of soil organic matter content using multitemporal synthetic Landsat 8 images in Google Earth Engine

Chong Luo et al.

Summary: The study proposed a high spatial resolution SOM mapping method based on multitemporal synthetic images in the Songnen Plain, Northeast China. The use of spectral index combined with image band input improved SOM prediction accuracy. The median synthetic image had higher accuracy compared to average, maximum, and minimum synthesized images, and more years of synthesized images provided more robust SOM prediction results. May was identified as the optimal time window for SOM mapping on the Songnen Plain.

The variation of net primary productivity and underlying mechanisms vary under different drought stress in Central Asia from 1990 to 2020

Saibo Li et al.

Summary: This study quantitatively explored the variations and mechanisms of net primary productivity (NPP) under different drought stress in Central Asia using Google Earth Engine. The results showed an increasing trend in vegetation productivity, with significant NPP increases in semi-arid and dry sub-humid zones. Land cover change had a greater impact on vegetation productivity than climate change in Central Asia.

Summary: This study analyzed the spatial and temporal evolution pattern of rocky desertification in Bijie City over the past 35 years and clarified the dominant driving factors in different historical periods. The research results provide decision supports for the prevention and control of rocky desertification in Bijie City and even the southwest karst mountainous area.

The Change Pattern and Its Dominant Driving Factors of Wetlands in the Yellow River Delta Based on Sentinel-2 Images

Cuixia Wei et al.

Summary: There are significant differences in the dominant driving factors of the change process of different types of wetlands in the Yellow River delta. This study extracted and analyzed the change process of wetlands and their dominant factors using the Random Forest algorithm. The results showed that the wetlands were transformed into artificial wetlands, with an overall development direction of northwest-southeast.

Projections of desertification trends in Central Asia under global warming scenarios

Xiaofei Ma et al.

Summary: Central Asia is a core region of global desertification, and this study investigated the desertification process in CA under intensifying global greening policies and global warming scenarios. The findings show an increasing trend in temperature, precipitation, and vegetation index in CA, with climate projections indicating warmer and wetter conditions in the future. Desertification in CA is expected to worsen with global warming, particularly affecting regions like Xinjiang in China and Kazakhstan.
