A facile method for the synthesis of various 2-substituted benzothiazoles has been developed. Cu-MOF serves as a recyclable heterogeneous catalyst in a one-pot three-component reaction in DMF solvent, resulting in high yields of the target products without the need for any additive. Furthermore, the catalyst shows good recycling and reusable properties.
A facile synthesis of various 2-substituted benzothiazoles has been developed by Cu-MOF as a recyclable heterogeneous catalyst in one-pot three-component reactions of 4-chloro-2-iodoaniline, aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes, and elemental sulfur in DMF at 110 degrees C with good yield. This reaction showed a good functional group tolerance to produce the corresponding 2-substituted benzothiazoles in good yields in the absence of any additive. The results showed that the catalyst can be recycled and reused for four times. The chemical structures of the all-synthesized compounds were confirmed by NMR and CHN analysis. [GRAPHICS] .
