Mixture deposition method for graphene quantum dots-based dye-sensitized solar cell

S. Mahalingam et al.

Summary: In the traditional approach of layer-by-layer assembly of graphene quantum dots and dye in quantum dot-cosensitized solar cells, limited light absorption and low affinity to the TiO2 surface hinder its practical application. A new strategy of mixture configuration was investigated, and it was found that the mixture of GQDs + N719 exhibited the highest efficiency, attributed to enhanced electron collection and improved surface adhesion between the photoanode and photosensitizers.

Tuning nonradiative recombination loss by selective oxidation patterns of epoxy groups bound to different sites of graphene quantum dots

Peng Cui et al.

Summary: In this study, the electronic structures and optical properties of graphene quantum dots (GQDs) with selective oxidation patterns of epoxy groups on their surfaces were investigated using density functional theory (DFT) and linear-response time-dependent DFT (LR-TDDFT) calculations. It was found that oxidation occurs more easily at the edges of GQDs and different oxidation patterns can influence the properties of the excited state. The nonradiative decay rates decrease with the distance from the core of the GQD. Furthermore, specific oxidation patterns at the edge of GQDs demonstrate alternating nonradiative patterns, either accelerating or suppressing the nonradiative electron-hole recombination.

Solvent-engineered performance improvement of graphene quantum dot sensitized solar cells with nitrogen functionalized GQD photosensitizers

Tamal Dey et al.

Summary: The choice of solvent used in the synthesis of nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs) significantly affects the photovoltaic performance of quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSSC). Switching to aprotic solvent DMF enhances nitrogen units in the graphene quantum dots framework, improving carrier density and transport properties, and resulting in better photovoltaic performance for QDSSC.

Morphological diversity effect of graphene quantum dot/MIL88A(Fe) composites on dye and pharmaceuticals (tetracycline and doxycycline) removal

Bahareh Rabeie et al.

Summary: In this study, composites with different morphologies (diamond-like, rod-like, and spindle-like) were synthesized using MIL88A (Fe) and graphene quantum dots (GQDs). The spindle-like GQDMIL88A composite showed the highest adsorption capacity for Acid Blue 92 (AB92) and doxycycline. The findings of this study indicated that all three types of GQDMIL88A composites are compatible with the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetics.
