Ultra-Stable Phase Change Coatings by Self-Cross-Linkable Reactive Poly(ethylene glycol) and MWCNTs

Junshuo Cui et al.

Summary: PCM coatings based on reactive poly(ethylene glycol) have been developed for direct thermal energy exchange and storage, showing significant solid-solid phase transition properties and high energy storage densities. Addition of multi-walled carbon nanotubes into the coatings enhances high-temperature form stability and rapid thermal exchange properties, forming a cross-linked network between RPEG and MWCNTs. Thermal regulation clothes prepared by spray coating method exhibit good washing durability without performance deterioration after three washes.

Hydro electroactive Cu/Zn coated cotton fiber nonwovens for antibacterial and antiviral applications

Shaohua Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, hydro electroactive Cu/Cotton/Zn composites were prepared by sputtering Cu/Zn galvanic electrodes on hydrophilic cotton fiber nonwovens. These composites showed excellent antibacterial and antiviral activity, while maintaining the filtration efficiency and breathability of the face mask. Furthermore, they exhibited good biological safety.

Cost-effective chitosan thermal bonded nonwovens serving as an anti-viral inhibitor layer in face mask

Shaohua Zhang et al.

Summary: This study used chitosan thermal bonded nonwovens (CS) as a functional layer on face masks to inhibit virus activity, and showed good biocompatibility. Results indicate that using CS as an additional layer of polypropylene melt-blown nonwovens (PP) can enhance the filtration efficiency of face masks.

Balance of antiperitoneal adhesion, hemostasis, and operability of compressed bilayer ultrapure alginate sponges

Arvind K. Singh Chandel et al.

Summary: Both effective antiperitoneal adhesion barriers and hemostats are necessary in surgery. This study evaluated the effect of compression on the performance of alginate bilayer sponges. Results showed that the 100 μm compressed sponge had the highest hemostatic activity, while the 200 μm compressed sponge demonstrated the highest antiadhesion efficacy.

Human endothelial cells and fibroblasts express and produce the coagulation proteins necessary for thrombin generation

Clay T. Cohen et al.

Summary: Human endothelial cells (ECs) and fibroblasts can both generate thrombin on their surfaces without the need for exogenous addition of coagulation proteins or phospholipids. However, the two cell types utilize distinct forms of prothrombinase to achieve this thrombin generation.

Rapid and coagulation-independent haemostatic sealing by a paste inspired by barnacle glue

Hyunwoo Yuk et al.

Summary: This adhesive paste, inspired by barnacle glue, effectively seals tissues in less than 15 seconds regardless of blood coagulation rate. With a design based on adhesive proteins embedded in a lipid-rich matrix, the paste resorbs slowly over weeks and forms strong interfaces with blood-covered tissues, outperforming commercial haemostatic agents. It may be beneficial in treating severe bleeding, even in individuals with coagulopathies.

Preparation and application of quick hemostatic gauze based on biomimetic mineralized thrombin

Yuting Shi et al.

Summary: Thrombin, a serine protease used as a local hemostatic agent, faces challenges in clinical applications due to its sensitivity to the environment, instability, easy inactivation, and low bioavailability. In this study, six ion/thrombin hybrid microflowers and two thrombin/MOF were synthesized to explore an efficient technique for biomimetic mineralized thrombin. Among them, Zn-HNFs-G showed good hemostatic effect and maintained high enzymatic activity under high-temperature conditions, while Fe-HNFs-G, Thrombin@ZIF-8-G, and Thrombin@MAF-7-G had negligible enzyme protection.
