Global patterns of Hodgkin lymphoma incidence and mortality in 2020 and a prediction of the future burden in 2040

Deependra Singh et al.

Summary: This study examines the global patterns of Hodgkin lymphoma in 2020 and predicts the future incidence and mortality burden. The findings show that males have consistently higher incidence and mortality rates across different regions. Incidence rates vary significantly by regions, with the highest rates observed in Southern Europe, while mortality rates are elevated in Western Asia and Northern Africa. The study predicts an increase in the number of cases by 2040.

Cancer in adolescents and young adults in Japan: epidemiology and cancer strategy

Kayo Nakata et al.

Summary: Approximately 20,000 adolescents and young adults aged 15-39 years are newly diagnosed with cancer in Japan each year. Treatment and care for this population have been improving, leading to increased 5-year survival probability and decreased mortality rate. Despite progress, obstacles still exist in research, psychosocial support, and cancer care systems for AYAs in Japan.

Characteristics and outcomes of second cancers in patients with childhood cancer: A report from the Taiwan Pediatric Oncology Group

Wan-Ling Ho et al.

Summary: Children with primary cancer who develop a second cancer face an increased risk of unfavorable outcomes, particularly with early occurrence of secondary hematological malignancies. Age at diagnosis of the second cancer and prior radiation doses are associated with the type of second cancer, impacting treatment and survival rates for second cancers.

Trends in survival of leukemia among children, adolescents, and young adults: A population-based study in Osaka, Japan

Kayo Nakata et al.

Summary: The study focused on examining the trends in leukemia survival among children and AYAs over a 37-year period in Osaka, Japan. Significant improvements were observed in 5-year overall survival probability for all leukemia types, especially after the introduction of treatment regimens or molecularly targeted therapies. Patient centralization at designated cancer care hospitals may be an effective strategy to improve survival outcomes.
