Effect of mixed fibers on fly ash-based geopolymer resistance against carbonation

Faping Li et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the resistance of mixed fiber reinforced fly ash-based geopolymer against carbonation using the accelerated carbonation test. The results showed that the incorporation of modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers can enhance the resistance of the geopolymer. Additionally, the addition of these materials can also improve the compressive strength of the geopolymer.

A mix design method of fly ash geopolymer concrete based on factors analysis

Chenchen Luan et al.

Summary: This study proposed a new mix design method for geopolymer concrete, specifically low calcium fly ash geopolymer concrete, which allows for achieving high strength and excellent workability simultaneously. The workability is mainly influenced by the water content, while strength is affected by the water to alkaline activator ratio.

Physical and Chemical Relationships in Accelerated Carbonation Conditions of Alkali-Activated Cement Based on Type of Binder and Alkali Activator

Yuto Yamazaki et al.

Summary: The study investigated the physical and chemical changes of alkali-activated cements under accelerated carbonation conditions, revealing alterations in the C-(N)-A-S-H structure and a decrease in compressive strength. Interestingly, in sodium-rich specimens, compressive strength did not decrease during accelerated carbonation. This research is expected to contribute to the field of alkali-activated cements in the future.
